토리키치

 

내가 어렸을 때 부터 살던 신당동은 힙당동이 되었고, 상상도 못했던 새로운 가게들이 곳곳에 들어서고 있다.

옥상에서 고기를 굽는건, 할머니랑 동생이랑 선선한 여름 바람 불때마다 우리 집 옥상에서 바베큐하고, 텐트치고 잤는데,

이젠 곳곳에 루프탑 식당, 바들이 들어서고 있는 신당동, aka 힙당동.

 

(힙당동.. 힙당동이라는 단어를 들을 때마다 느끼는 찐'신당동 사람의 의견은.. 글쎄. 이렇게 핫할 일인가 싶으면서,

진정한 힙을 느낄 수 있는 가게들은 아직 대중에게 오픈되지 않은 채, 바로 새로 생긴 가게들로 관심이 쏠리는 듯 하여 아쉬임)

 

어렸을 적 동네 친구를 만나러 힙당동에 종종 가는데,

골목길 한 켠에 새로운 이자카야가 오픈 했다고 하여 2차로 방문했다.

 

오픈한지 얼마 안되어 모든게 어수선 했고, 가장 치명적인 오류로 생맥주가 품절 상태였지만,

에어콘이 정말 강력했고, 기타 소소한 사이드들이 맛있어서 (양배추가 요물임)

가벼운 2차로, 만취 상태를 이어가기 위한 2차 장소가 아닌,

적당히 즐기면서 시원하게 대화하고 소소한 사이드 냠냠 하기에 좋은 장소인 듯 하다.

The neighborhood I grew up in, Sindang-dong, has transformed into a hip area, with new and unimaginable stores popping up everywhere. Back in the day, we used to have BBQs and camp out on our rooftop whenever the cool summer breeze blew. It was a fun time spent with my grandmother and younger sibling. Now, Sindang-dong, also known as Hipdang-dong, is filled with trendy rooftop restaurants and bars.

 

(Hipdang-dong... Whenever I hear that term, as a true Sindang-dong resident, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions. It's become such a trendy area, and I wonder if it's genuinely hip or just a passing fad. The places where you can truly experience the essence of 'hip' seem to remain hidden from the public eye, emerging as newly opened stores, drawing all the attention. It's a bit disappointing that the authentic charm of the neighborhood is overshadowed by the hype surrounding the new establishments.)

 

I often visit Hipdang-dong to meet up with old friends from the neighborhood. Recently, we discovered a new izakaya tucked away in a corner of the alley. We decided to have a second round of drinks there.

 

Since it had just opened..

everything was a bit chaotic, and to our disappointment, they had run out of draft beer - a major setback. However, the strong air conditioning made up for it, and the delicious side dishes, especially the cabbage, made the experience enjoyable despite the small inconvenience. It's a perfect spot for a light second round of drinks and some pleasant conversation, rather than a place to get drunk, offering a cool and relaxed ambiance for a fun get-together.
